CheckoutMaster (“we”, “our”, or “us”) operates the Advanced Checkout Shopify App (also referred to as “Checkout Master”, the “App”), which provides Cash on Delivery (COD) verification, checkout payment and delivery customizations, and optional post-purchase upsell for Shopify merchants. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when merchants install and use our App.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Merchant Information

• Store name
• Store URL
• Store email address
• Shopify store ID
• Checkout and App configuration settings

1.2 Customer & Order Information

To provide COD verification and checkout customization features, the App may access:

• Phone number — to send SMS or WhatsApp one-time passwords for COD order verification
• Order ID, order value, and payment method (e.g. COD)
• Cart and checkout metadata used for payment and delivery customization rules

We do not routinely collect customer name or full shipping address for COD verification. We do not collect or store any card, UPI, or banking details.

2. How We Use the Information

• Verify COD orders using OTP sent via SMS or WhatsApp
• Enable and manage checkout payment and delivery customizations
• Reduce fake or fraudulent COD orders
• Optional post-purchase upsell after checkout
• Notify merchants about verification and checkout events
• Provide customer and merchant support

We do not use customer phone numbers or emails for advertising, profiling, or resale.

3. Data Storage & Retention

• Data is stored only for operational and feature-related purposes
• OTP verification logs and order-linked phone numbers are retained for up to 90 days after verification, or until the merchant uninstalls the App, whichever is sooner
• Merchants may request deletion of stored data at any time

4. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data.

Data may be shared only with:

• SMS and WhatsApp delivery providers (e.g. Gupshup, Aisensy, Limechat) strictly to deliver verification codes
• Cloud infrastructure providers that host our application
• Shopify, as required under Shopify App policies
• Legal authorities if required by law

We do not share customer phone numbers or emails with analytics or advertising providers.

5. Data Security

We use industry-standard security practices including HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit, encrypted storage at rest, access controls, and separation of production and development environments.

6. Merchant Responsibilities

• Inform customers about COD verification and checkout customizations
• Update their store privacy policy accordingly
• Comply with applicable data protection laws

7. Shopify Compliance

Advanced Checkout complies with Shopify App Store requirements and accesses only the minimum data necessary to provide its features. Data is never used for advertising or marketing purposes. We respond to Shopify mandatory webhooks for customer and shop data requests (customers/data_request, customers/redact, shop/redact).

8. Customer Rights

Customers may request access, correction, or deletion of their data through the merchant or by contacting us directly.

9. Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised date.
